COVID-19 Vaccine Update

A total of 90 vaccinations were given on Monday, April 12, 2021.

15 were first dose recipients.

77.2% of Magnetawan residents 18 yrs + have been vaccinated!!

Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services

As posted earlier NCFS is now a designated Child and Family Service organization which is defined as a front-line service agency requiring staffing to support our children and families in need.

Niijaansinaanik has a rental agreement with Magnetawan First Nation to occupy the designated land that the office trailer resides on and as such must access their business office.

Niijaansinaanik staff will only enter onto the First Nation to access the office location and MFN gas, convenience store, and Horton’s practicing all COVID-19 safety protocols.

Please accept their presence in our community and extend them a warm welcome.

An update as of 04APR from Chiefs Of Ontario:

Variants of Concern (VOC) – Ontario is seeing a rapid increase of VOC cases.  

As of 04APR a total of 2,288 positive cases have been confirmed as one of the known VOCs.

There have been 25,470 cases that tested positive for the N501Y mutation, that have not yet been classified.

Robinson Huron Annuities Court Proceedings

The Ontario Court of Appeal has set the dates and times for hearing the Ontario appeal of the Stage 1 Decision of the Robinson Huron Annuities Claim. 

All hearings will be held virtually beginning Tuesday, April 13.

Allegations of Misconduct Against Anishinabek Police Chief

Anishinabek Police Chief John Syrette’s disciplinary hearing was held last week.  Syrette has been suspended since being accused of misconduct two years ago.

Finally, we will present updates from the Provincial Advisory Committee on Infectious Diseases – Infection Control regarding the evidence and recommendations for infection control measures related to variants of concern.
